A microcosm of our community, our staff and leadership is compiled of folks from all walks. Blue collar workers, entrepreneurs, teachers, and more, we all work together from our own unique perspectives to facilitate the work of our ministry in Covington.

Specifically, we have a few paid staff members, a governing guide team, and volunteer leaders and servants. We believe in empowering our entire community to be on mission, and those listed here help facilitate that.

Ron & JoAnn Compton

lead pastors
 

Ron and JoAnn have been married since 1983 and have two kids and six grandkids. Ron has served in varying pastoral roles through the years, and JoAnn works as an educator. Together, they have served in ministry for 30 years. Ron is a graduate of Toccoa Falls College with a degree in Christian Education and Evangelism. JoAnn holds degrees in Human Services from Southeastern University.
Known for their relational style of ministry, anyone who knows them know they are loved as family.

Sean Gordy

WORSHIP & ARTS
 

Sean & Annie have been an integral part of Common Ground since its inception. They both were raised in the Covington area, and now live, work, and serve their home community. Now married over a decade, they are Mom and Dad to three. Annie serves as the director of a local homeschool cooperative. As a pastor’s kid, she has followed Jesus and served in ministry all of her life. Sean is our director of worship & arts. He works closely with Ron and Michael to curate an environment for worship and prayer in our Sunday gatherings and beyond.

Jessica Terrell

Jessica and Shaun may be two of the coolest folks at Common Ground. They've been married for 8 years. Shaun is an enthusiast of all things loud and fast. He works as an automotive technician. Jessica began serving our community in children's ministry, but as she became close to our students, it became clear that was the place for her and Shaun to serve. Jessica serves as the pastor to our students at cg.students, helping to develop campus missionaries among our young people.

PASTORAL COUNCIL

Pastor Ron and the Guide Team also work closely with a council of pastors who have been influential in ministry. This council offers guidance and oversight in areas of vision & mission, as well as practical matters like strategy and accountability.
